Pre – School & child Brain development
Many moms have reservations about the importance of Pre-school education and is worried about their kids, aren’t they to small?, what about all the germs? I can certainly do all that at home?, my child don’t need Pre-school, there is still lots of time left for school in the years to come. To stay on the farm everyday is enough…..but is that really true?
Let us look at the difference between childcare and Pre- school.
Childcare are generally an option for working parents who need their children to be taken care of during the day.
Pre school refers to an early-childhood education class, well trained teachers, stimulating activities and childcare programs.
I was thinking about all the questions and thoughts of some moms, and this came to my mind:
If this is true , how can I be so casual about my child’s early years?
Maybe you still think, yes, you have a point, but do you really feel that elementary school is worth nothing? Absolutely not…..
Physiologically, the human brain consists of 2 parts, the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. It appears for the brain to be efficient, the two hemispheres of the brain need to work together.
LEFT BRAIN-TYPICALLY WHAT IS TRAINED IN SCHOOL, MATHS, READING, SCIENCE ETC.
So yes, the left brain are mainly used in elementary school and do have a very important role, unfortunately, when schools cut back on budgets, the arts are first to go.
RIGHT BRAIN-EMOTIONAL PERCEPTION, INTUITION AND CREATIVITY ETC.
This is part of the brain that needs to be trained properly in the early age. Age 0-5 years. It contributes majorly to the child’s brain development. This is the part of the brain that the typical school environment neglects to train.
It is shown that when gifted kids solve problems in their areas of giftedness, there is increased electrical activity in both.
By stimulating and exercising the right hemisphere of the brain, the arts strengthen the connection between the hemispheres.
That is why children just love art, painting drawing, sketching, music etc, because , the right brain is ready and at that age needs some building.
Most children begin their journey as left brain dominant not tapping into the right brain potential. If we spend more time stimulating the right side of the brain we would search out the integration of the two hemispheres, balancing the use of our potential. This is where Pre-school comes in.
HOW DO I ENCOURAGE RIGHT BRAIN THINKING IN CHILDREN?
By creating a atmosphere of creativity in your pre-school classroom with music, crafts, poems, stories and fun and laughter. Not just one activity in your weekly home routine. It is about being surrounded with friends and a creative atmosphere, filled with crafts, passion and laughter, taste , feel, movement, vivid colours, boundless imagination , art, poetry, sense and feel.
I am the right brain
I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion.
Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter.
I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet.
I am movement. Vivid colours.
I am the urge to paint on a empty canvas.
I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel.
I am everything I wanted to be.
